The year is 2500. In the middle of the pacific ocean, far beyond where anyone else can reach, is a small, beautiful island. This island seems untouched by the reaches of time. It never seems to run out of anything, relying on alternative sources of energy. The island is without cars, planes, trains, computers, telephones, televisions, and other modern amenities. A long time ago, four people showed up on this island. There were two newlywed couples out on their honeymoons when a boat crashed off the southern shore of this island. The couples' descendants have been living here for five hundred years. Everything was peaceful for a long time.
Then the male leader, Seaborn Tooth, died, along with his general, Sandblown Fang. Everybody was in a panic until a new leader showed up. This new leader, named Seaborn Pine, was very discriminatory. Because he is the leader, nobody is allowed to disagree with him. He began to treat the women, who lived on the beach of black sand, very badly. The men on the beach of white sand were mad every privileged. The women didn't like this at all, but they were powerless to stop it. If the men spoke out against Seaborn Pine they were attacked by his soldiers. If the woman spoke out they were also attacked, but usually the women were killed from the attacks.
For a while the women despaired. How could they beat this force? It wasn't until a small rebel force rose up did they realize they could take over. Since the rebel leader's name was Flaming Arrow, they called themselves the Flaming Arrows. A series of rebel attacks ensued, until finally Flaming Arrow killed Seaborn Pine. Everybody cheered, and a new gathering place was created, the Clearing of Brown Dirt. This was the place where the men and women could meet freely, for they still remained discriminated.
Seaborn Pine's successor, Seaborn Arm, was strict in that he kept the men and women discriminated except in the Brown Dirt. He suddenly died, for he was getting on in age, and his successor was none other then Seaborn Pine's son, Seaborn Bear. Seaborn Bear slowly brought back his father's strict laws, but by leaving the Brown Dirt alone he gained a little bit of public sympathy. However, he soon began to bring laws in of his own. Womens' freedoms were sharply curtailed, and again people were remained of the time of Seaborn Pine. Flaming Arrow wanted to start up her rebel group again, but decided somebody young would need to do it. She sent her daughter, Small Arrow, instead. Small Arrow decided to make her rebellion a bit more slowly, so that she could be sure the discrimination would never happen again. To gather support she began to go door to door from the straw huts on both beaches to ask a single question. Now she is knocking on your door.
